Meet the Team: An Interview with Jenna
Jenna McMahon | Logistics Wizard/Event Manager
What does your regular day look like?
On my average day of work, I start the day off by looking over my calendar & agenda, to see what needs to get done. This way, I can get everything organized at the start of the day and look at what is my top priority. As the Event Manager, I handle all aspects of multiple events. I am working closely with the Creative team to ensure all proposed items are contracted. I am managing all logistics and financial tasks for each program. Most importantly, I am connecting with all my staff & clients to ensure all planning efforts for the programs will meet to perfection. Time management and organization are so important when working on my events every day.
What are your favorite things to do outside of work?
I love doing my self-care routine, taking that time to myself after a long stressful day. I have a blog called “Note-to-Self” which is a blog to help others find their self-love with self-care, giving information on activities you can do in your routine, different blog posts on time management, mental health, and more. But when I have more time on my hands, I love being with my friends and family. I love to stay active, go out, travel, try new places, and explore. I always update my bucket list of places and things that I would like to do by myself or with friends and family.
What do you enjoy most about your day?
My favorite part of my day is meeting with my staff. Whether it is a team call or an in-person meeting, this is time we get to meet. We are a family here at Portfire and love to check in on one another whether it is work-related or not. After the meeting, I love taking the time to put my thoughts down in my agenda and make sure I am on track to getting what I need to get done for my day. This routine helps me start my day!
What about the best part of your work?
The best part about my work is not only working with amazing clients and staff but seeing the end result of the program. I love seeing all the smiles on everyone’s faces during each program. It’s so rewarding to watch every aspect of the event come to life. I love making others happy and being the person that made it happen.
What advice would you give someone who’d like to work at Portfire?
My advice is to keep your eyes open and do not be afraid to ask questions. There are many steps to the process to put each program together. Observe and listen to all information given. If there is something you don’t understand, ASK. There are no dumb questions. It is better to ask than not because it can affect the event later on. Everyone at Portfire is willing to lend a helping hand at any time. If you are willing to learn, have a passion for the industry and have a great attitude towards your team and clients, you’ll fit right in here at Portfire Events.
